Press Secretary of the United States Department of State Ned Price said that the United States does not exclude the imposition of sanctions for violence during an LGBT action in the Georgian capital Tbilisi. Then more than 50 journalists were injured, one of them died.

He noted that opponents of LGBT actions who incited violence should be identified, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
“We remind the leaders of Georgia of their responsibility to protect journalists, freedom of the press, and we call on all Georgians to publicly condemn this type of violence,” Price said.
The spokesman for the State Department did not rule out that Washington may impose sanctions against those responsible.
“We have a number of tools to bring to justice those who are in any way guilty of human rights violations for violence around the world, sanctions are indeed one of those tools,” Price stressed.
