Clashes after a Hezbollah truck overturned…and 2 were killed in Lebanon

Two security sources revealed that two people were killed today, Wednesday, in clashes between members of the Lebanese party and residents of a town that erupted after residents surrounded a truck belonging to the party that overturned while loaded with weapons.
The two sources added that the clashes took place near the mountainous town of Kahala in the center of the country, according to Reuters.
One of the two security sources also said that the truck belonged to Hezbollah and that one of the dead was a member of Hezbollah and the second was a resident of the town.
For its part, the Lebanese Information Agency stated that the truck overturned “due to overloading,” noting that a state of tension had occurred after the people gathered in the place around the truck.
In addition, Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath reporter stated that the truck was loaded with ammunition, weapons and military equipment.
For his part, a source said that the Lebanese army cordoned off the truck, the contents of which were not known.
Hezbollah statement
On the other hand, the Lebanese Hezbollah issued a statement explaining what happened, and said that while a truck belonging to Hezbollah was coming from the Bekaa Valley to Beirut, it turned up in the Kahala area.
And he continued, “After its overturning, a number of gunmen from the militias present in the area gathered, and they attacked the truck’s personnel in an attempt to control it, as they threw stones and then opened fire, which resulted in the injury of one of the people responsible for protecting the truck, and he was taken to the hospital, where later died.
The statement also indicated that an exchange of fire took place with the gunmen, which led to the intervention of a Lebanese army force to prevent them from approaching or controlling the truck.
