Clashes between Marseille and Dutch supporters in Marseille

On the eve of the highly anticipated Europa Conference League semi-final return between OM and Feyenoord Rotterdam (Thursday 9 p.m.), the situation became tense this Wednesday afternoon in the Old Port of Marseille between supporters Dutch and law enforcement. On multiple occasions there were clashes with projectiles. Establishments had to lower their curtains. On Wednesday evening, the clashes continued in Marseille and the situation was still very tense. A special device to avoid any incident

As explained by RMC Sport, the authorities have thought about a particular device to welcome the 3,200 Feyenoord supporters expected in Marseille. Among them, around 500 are considered “at risk” and will be closely monitored. It is also possible that “ticketless” supporters seek to obtain them on the black market. To make this match as secure as possible, the authorities have notably planned the installation of a “fan zone” for the faithful of Feyenoord at the Prado beaches. The idea is to encourage as many Dutch supporters as possible to gather there.

To avoid friction, Feyenoord ultras were also advised not to form a procession to the Velodrome. A system of buses and shuttles, with compulsory presentation of a ticket to board, will be organised. The trip will be under police escort. Inside the Vélodrome, a sanitary cordon will separate the Dutch parking lot from the Jean-Bouin stand.

Several meetings have taken place in recent days, in the presence of authorities, clubs, representatives of the city or the Dutch police so as not to relive the incidents that occurred during OM-PAOK in the previous round.

In sporting terms, OM were beaten in the first leg in the Netherlands (3-2) and must therefore reverse the situation in front of their home crowd to win the right to face Roma or Leicester in the final of this Europa Conference. League.
