(CNN) – The clashes between Israeli forces and the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” entered their eighth day on Saturday morning, and below we review the most prominent developments:
The Israeli city of Sderot was placed on alert after Hamas fired rockets on Saturday morning. The CNN team in the city heard the Israeli “Iron Dome” air defense system working to intercept the missiles, and a member of the team heard the siren indicating that the city had been put on alert.

The Hamas movement’s media office told CNN that Israeli military airstrikes killed 70 people and injured 200 more evacuees in Gaza after issuing a warning to 1.1 million people to move south, Friday, adding that the airstrikes wounded evacuees in three Locations: Salah El-Din Street, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin Street, and near Wadi Gaza.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in an update on Saturday morning that 53 Palestinians were killed in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem by Israeli forces and settlers on Friday, and more than 1,100 others were injured.
Some Palestinian Americans stranded in Gaza received the first set of instructions that their family members may be able to evacuate from Gaza to Egypt on Saturday afternoon, according to emails shared with CNN. The US State Department’s Consular Affairs Crisis Management System informed family members that Rafah crossing “may be open” on Saturday.

The Israeli army announced, on Saturday, that its fighter jets bombed the operations headquarters used by Hamas militants during the attack, killing the head of Hamas’s air force in Gaza City. The Israeli army said: “During the raid, fighter jets belonging to the Israeli army killed Murad Abu Murad, He was the head of the Hamas air force in Gaza City, and was largely responsible for directing the terrorists during the massacre that occurred on Saturday.

The Israeli army announced, on Saturday, that a drone targeted and killed “a number of terrorists” who attempted to infiltrate Israeli territory from Lebanon. The Israeli army did not specify a specific time, but said in its update that the operation was carried out “a short time ago.”
