Clashes and Cease-fire Efforts Continue in Ain al-Hilweh Camp, Southern Lebanon

Clashes broke out in the camp, between “Fatah” and extremist gunmen, after an assassination targeting an official in one of the organizations, called “Abu Qatada”, after he was wounded by direct gunfire.

Yesterday, Sunday, clashes renewed in the camp, resulting in the death of the commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces in Sidon, Abu Ashraf al-Armoushi, and 4 of his companions.

The commander of the Palestinian National Security Forces in Lebanon, Major General Subhi Abu Arab, accused Jund al-Sham of “assassinating Brigadier General al-Armoushi and his companions,” in an interview with fields.

Later, the Palestinian factions reached an immediate cease-fire between all parties in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, after a meeting of the Palestinian Joint Action Committee at the headquarters of the Amal Movement in Haret Saida, but the clashes continued despite the agreement.

For its part, the Lebanese army announced the injury of a number of Lebanese soldiers, as a result of the shooting of its centers and observation points, stressing that it would respond to the sources of fire in the same way.

As for the Palestinian presidency, it declared that “the massacre that targeted the commander of the national security forces in the Sidon camps, and a number of his companions, crossed the red lines,” declaring its support for what the Lebanese government is doing to impose law and order, including in the Palestinian camps.

With the continuation and intensification of the clashes, the Islamic forces in Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp stressed, in a statement issued yesterday, Monday, “the need for an immediate ceasefire,” stressing their “concern for the security and stability of the camp, in addition to the security of the neighborhood,” and refusing “harm to our brothers in the camp.” Sidon.

The Islamic forces in the camp called for “the formation of an investigation committee that would reveal those involved in everything that happened, and hand them over to the relevant official authorities,” while confirming their continued efforts to calm the situation and cease fire.

Likewise, the Lebanese representative for the city of Sidon, Osama Saad, announced yesterday, during the Sidon meeting of the Palestinian factions and factions, the agreement on a cease-fire and the withdrawal of militants.

Saad added, in an interview with fieldsHe said, “It was agreed to investigate the assassination of the leader Al-Armoushi, and to hand over everyone involved in the operation,” noting that “whoever carried out the assassination wanted to threaten the security of the camp and Sidon and push towards laxity.”

Palestinian, and in the same context, a member of the Political Council of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ihsan Ataya, said, for the fields It was agreed on 3 points during the Sidon meeting, which are: stopping the clashes, withdrawing the gunmen and forming an investigation committee.

Ataya stressed that everyone must “commit to these points to stop tampering in the camp,” thanking all parties for their efforts to stop the clashes, especially the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, announcing that “there will be new meetings, today, Tuesday, to stop the clashes.”

In turn, the leader of the Hamas movement, Osama Hamdan, indicated for the fields He pointed out that all the efforts exerted “did not succeed in achieving a cease-fire, while the Palestinian interest must be given priority and the clashes should stop.”

Hamdan stressed to Al-Mayadeen that those who carried out the assassination must be handed over to the Lebanese security services, adding that “what is happening now in the camp serves only the Israeli enemy.”
