A garden of remembrance and reflection honouring two members of Cumann na mBan, Mamie and Nan Hegarty, has been opened at Clashduv Park in Togher by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Deirdre Forde. The sisters lived at the Laurels on Pouladuff Road, and were active participants in resistance against British rule during the War of Independence and the Civil War. The garden was created by the Ballyphehane/Togher Centenary Commemoration Committee, Togher Tidy Towns, and other organisations, with the support of Cork City Council. The Lord Mayor named two trees after the sisters, symbolising equality and liberty.
