Kadispenad TNI AD Brigadier General Kristomei Sianturi said the clash occurred on Friday (5/1) at around 15.30 WIB in front of the Kodam XIII/Merdeka office. The incident began when a group accompanying the body got into an argument with residents at the location due to the noise of the exhaust pipe used by the vehicle accompanying the body.
“The group of corpse motorcades actually made more noise by pumping the exhaust gas on their motorbikes so that local residents who saw the incident felt disturbed by the procession and spontaneously took to the road and blocked the group, causing them to clash,” said Kristomei when contacted. , Friday (5/1/2024) evening.

Kristomei said that the group accompanying the body had actually been escorted by Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas officers from the funeral home. Officers have also warned the body attendants to be orderly when carrying out the convoy.
“When the group of mourners passed Gate 2 of Makodam, Babinsa again reminded the group carrying the body that they should not make noise, but they did not accept this because most of the attendants were under the influence of alcohol,” said Kristomei.
Clashes between the group accompanying the body and local residents were inevitable. Members of the TNI Kodam XIII/Merdeka then came out to try to break up the commotion. Kristomei said the officers’ intentions did not get a positive response from the group accompanying the body.
