New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) mayoral elections have been suspended due to clashes. The dispute relates to the oath of office of the appointed members. The advisers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP got into a scuffle. AAP councilors chanted and protested.
The conflict between the BJP and AAP councilors had started even before the corporate meeting for the mayoral election. The controversy arose after Deputy Governor VK Saxena chose BJP adviser Satya Sharma as interim rapporteur.
The protest began when acting spokesman Satya Sharma began cursing the appointed members. AAP said the BJP is trying to subvert the mayoral election by using the lieutenant governor. In the election, AAP had won the administration of the company, which had been held by the BJP for 15 years.
