The pianist and composer Clara Vetter from Sinzheim receives this year’s Jazz Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg. The young talent award, which is endowed with 15,000 euros, will be presented to the musician on 6. October im Stuttgart theater house awarded. In addition to Siffling, the jury includes Gudrun Endress, Gee Hye Lee, Alexandra Lehmler, Julia Neupert, Thomas Staiber, Konrad Bott and Arndt Weidler. In addition to Vetter, the nominees included trumpeter Jakob Bänsch and guitarist Lukas DeRungs.
At the age of 13, Vetter took classical lessons at the Stuttgart Music Academy and two years later joined the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Jazz Orchestra. She later studied jazz piano in Stuttgart and Copenhagen. With her trio she has already been to the Stuttgart JazzOpen and the jazzahead! to guest. The Baden-Württemberg Jazz Prize has been awarded annually since 1985 by an independent jury and goes to artists who are not older than 35 and live in Baden-Württemberg or who have a close connection to the “Ländle” through their artistic work. Guitarist Christoph Neuhaus, pianist Olivia Trummer, singer Franziska Schuster and saxophonists Alexander Bühl and Jakob Manz have been among the prizewinners in recent years.
