Jakarta

Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix get the latest hybrid engine options. Compared to a conventional petrol engine, a hybrid engine that combines a petrol engine and a battery is definitely more fuel efficient. Toyota even claims that the fuel consumption of the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid can reach 21km/litre.

For information, the latest Kijang Innova Zenix is equipped with a 2,000 cc engine coded M20A-FKS Dynamic Force Engine. This engine with a displacement of 1,987 cc four-cylinder VVT-i delivers a power of up to 174 HP at 6,600 rpm with a maximum torque of 204.9 Nm at 4,500-4,900 rpm.

Meanwhile, the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV combines a 2,000cc M20A-FXS engine (152PS at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 187.3Nm at 4,400-5,200rpm), which is supported by a electric with a power of 113 HP and 205.9 Nm of torque. As a result, the combined power reaches 186 hp.

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) marketing director Anton Jimmi Suwandy said the Kijang Innova Zenix has a fuel consumption record that is even more economical than the Kijang Innova ‘Reborn’ diesel engine.

“Regarding fuel consumption, the fuel consumption of the old diesel car is around 1 liter against 14 km. The new one, even the petrol one, is already 1 liter against 15 km. Also, the hybrid one is 1 liter against 21km So from an economic point of view, both petrol and hybrid are cheaper than diesel,” said Anton in Jakarta (21/11).

Aside from the engine factor which makes the Kijang Innova Zenix cheaper than its predecessor, another contributing factor is the use of TNGA:GA-C platform with monocoque chassis and front-wheel drive system. The use of this platform reduces the weight of the Kijang Innova Zenix by 170 kg compared to its predecessor.

With a new engine and platform combination, Anton said Kijang Innova Zenix has better performance and acceleration than the sixth generation Kijang Innova.

“In terms of acceleration, this car has a new engine, lighter weight, better power-to-weight ratio, about 70% (better). 0-100km/h acceleration is better, petrol is better of diesel, especially hybrid ones. So our hope is that consumers can experience the economy and performance of this new car first-hand,” he said.
