The government seeks to accelerate the formation of an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. In addition to issuing regulations that make it easier for automotive manufacturers to make electric vehicles, the government also has a target to increase the use of electric cars and electric motorcycles within government agencies.
As stated by the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, in 2030 the government has a target of producing 600 thousand units of electric cars and 2.45 million units of electric motorcycles. The target is quite realistic considering that Indonesia will have a domestic electric vehicle battery factory, and is supported by the birth of electric vehicle manufacturers, both from abroad and domestically.
“Creating a BEV ecosystem (Battery Electric Vehicle) certainly requires the involvement of stakeholders, from producers, battery manufacturers, pilot projects, consumers, and infrastructure. The government targets BEV production in 2030 to reach 600 thousand units for four wheels or more, and 2.45 million units for two-wheeled vehicles. Then so that the electric vehicle product can be quickly absorbed by the market, the government will provide various incentives, both fiscal and non-fiscal. Examples like tax holiday, tax allowance, exemption from import duty, import duty borne by the government, including super tax deduction for activities research and development. In addition, the government will also require government agencies to use electric vehicles later.
“At the same time, to accelerate the popularization of EV use (Electric Vehicle), the government will establish regulations regarding road map (road map) EV purchases in government agencies.
