Maximum indignation among the members of Civil Protection and Volunteers of Sant Adrià de Besòs. Both associations are doomed to disappear and publicly denounce that the City Council do not recognize them don’t even listen to them.
The groups are known throughout the municipality for collaborating in different events or for contributing to the safety of citizens. In addition, its members have participated in food collections and solidarity events. Now, however, some are forced to be unable to provide service and others are incapacitated due to lack of resources.

AN AGREEMENT THAT HAS NOT BEEN CONSULTED
From the Association of Volunteers and Volunteers of Civil Protection of Sant Adrià they point out that the municipal technician in charge of drawing up the agreement between them and the City Council “has thrown it forward without having consulted us”. “They passed us the agreement at the end of 2021, because it was time to renew it, and we did not agree with the conditions, so we did not sign it. Even so, it was taken to plenary session and approved,” they explain to Metropolis from Civil Protection.
The volunteers of the association comment that this new agreement harms them: “They have lowered our subsidy and we multiply the obligation of services”. “The City Council recognizes us very little, the cars have not worked for six months and they have not passed or the ITV“, they point out.
Consulted by this means, the consistory has responded that there is a “discrepancy” with the agreement and that “it is being negotiated”.

NO SERVICES
At the moment, Sant Adrià Civil Protection has forbidden to perform services until the issue of the agreement is resolved, although they believe that “there is not much desire”. “They have to talk to us and reach agreements,” they insist from the group.
Impotent, these volunteers denounce that, with this break, the opportunity to collect material for Ukraine is being wasted: “A lot is being collected from the associations and we haven’t even started.”

VOLUNTEERS OF SANT ADRIÀ, WITHOUT RESOURCES
–
On the other hand, the Voluntaris de Sant Adrià make the same complaints about the negligence of the consistory reach this medium. The President of Volunteers, Juanmiexplains the Metropolis who receive “long” when they try to demand a minimum: “We have been asking for a local because in the previous one we had a problem with the roof that the City Council did not want to fix”. For this reason, Juanmi keeps as best he can all the material that the association receives in his house.
This group of volunteers, currently nine, pay out of pocket travel to events where they are required, civil liability insurance and even walkie talkies that they also asked the council: “They said they would pay for them, but the only thing they have paid us has been the dinner at the festival, after helping every day,” says Juanmi.

LOOKING FORWARD
The Voluntaris association was created by the City Council’s Culture area, the same one that now “ignores” them. “The Badalona City Council treats us much better,” explains Juanmi, who says he feels valued more by the neighboring municipality than by his own.
The president of the association also explains, indignantly, how the municipal government wanted to help, “suddenly“, with civil liability insurance, “not to pay for it, but to help look for it.” “The reality was that Carnival was approaching and they wanted to hurry up so that we could help them organize the parade.” Now, the volunteers are They are waiting, although they also believe that they are on their way to disappearing.
