Civil construction announces national mobilization this April 4

The Federation of Civil Construction Workers of Peru (FTCCP) and its 200 unions will mobilize this April 4 throughout the country to present the draft Collective Agreement 2024-2025 of the Construction Sector, which contains workers’ demands, with as its main point the salary increase to face the rise in the cost of living.

In Lima, they will gather from 2 pm in the Campo de Marte to go to the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion to present the specifications, while in all regions of Peru the unions will support this union action with various days of struggle from the early hours. in the morning.

For his part, the general secretary of the FTCCP, Luis Villanueva Carbajal, assured that inflation has reduced the purchasing power of workers’ salaries, but even more so for temporary workers, as is the case of workers in the construction sector.

“In civil construction, a worker works for the duration of the work for which he is hired and then remains unemployed. A fair salary increase could also somewhat compensate for times of unemployment, which are often most of the year.”

In addition, he warned that workers also demand better working conditions, greater supervision in construction sites, fight against organized crime mafias in construction sites, safety and health at work, among other demands.

“The worker fights against unemployment, the violation of their labor rights, the collection of quotas, accidents at work, among other problems. It is necessary to improve their working conditions.”
