– On the 29th, a civic group accused Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae to the police regarding the increase in the number of patients with novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) among prisoners in the Eastern Detention Center in Seoul.
On the 29th, the Citizens’ Livelihood Countermeasure Committee, a civic group, filed a complaint with the National Police Agency on charges of abandonment.
Citizens’ Livelihood Countermeasures Committee pointed out that “Hundreds of prisoners have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus, and even the Prime Minister has apologized, but the Chief Executive Officer, Choo Mi-ae, has been avoiding responsibility rather than apologizing.”
The group said, “When the coronavirus spread around Shincheonji Shindo in March, he insisted that’forced investigation is needed immediately’, and is still silent when a coronavirus case occurred in the eastern detention center managed by the Ministry of Justice.” Said.
Meanwhile, the number of infections has been increasing in the Seoul East Detention Center since one employee was confirmed on November 27th. As of this day, 769 people were confirmed.
