The leader of the Civic Coalition, Donald Tusk, accused the Polish government of inaction in the situation with the blockade of border crossings on the border with Ukraine.

On Tuesday in the Sejm, the leader of the Civic Platform, Donald Tusk, was asked about this protest. To the remark of journalists that his government would have to face this problem in two weeks, he replied that he would solve this problem “not in two weeks.”
“For example, today I am meeting with experts and those politicians who will deal with these issues,” he emphasized. “We will also still have a briefing this afternoon on the issue of carriers and the protest at the Ukrainian border,” he said.
Speaking about the appointment of the new government of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, he said that “since they pretend that they have appointed a real government, they could pretend that they are dealing with real problems.”
“Since they pretend that they are now creating a real government, they could pretend that they are dealing with real problems. Such inactivity cannot be forgiven, because in this way we jeopardize Polish-Ukrainian relations and do not care about Polish interests,” – Tusk stated.
“This government puts us all in a very difficult situation. The Law and Justice Party, Morawiecki and Kaczynski fatally, very amateurishly, unprofessionally and, moreover, cynically played the Ukrainian card,” the politician noted.
“In the beginning, when it was appropriate, they demonstrated a radically pro-Ukrainian position, completely forgetting about Polish interests,” Tusk emphasized.
According to him, “we must live in friendship and support with Ukraine, but at the same time not neglect Polish interests.”
“They completely neglected this, and when they realized that this angered people, they began to play the anti-Ukrainian card, and then completely turned their backs on the problem at the border,” Tusk assessed.
“This is a scandal, because even on such an issue as the drivers’ protest, they jeopardized our fundamental interests, relations with Ukraine, Russia, Europe,” Tusk emphasized.
As you know, since November 6, a protest action by Polish carriers has been ongoing at three border crossing points between Poland and Ukraine, allowing several vehicles to pass per hour. Last week the blockade began another checkpoint – “Medica – Shegini”.
On Monday, Poland’s Ministry of Infrastructure announced that appealed to Ukraine with a proposal to resolve the situation with the blockade on the border.
