The region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has begun to emerge as a pivotal region for the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe amid intense geopolitical changes in the wider region, yet its potential is much greater.
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and specifically Alexandroupoli, is considered one of the most suitable areas for utilization both in terms of energy and in terms of direct foreign investment. Beyond its potential as a tourist product, it can also become a pole of attraction for international trade and new talents. The top conference is also going to focus on these possibilities Cityhub Event: East Macedonia & Thrace Forum, which is organized for the second consecutive year in Alexandroupolis, on March 13-14.
The conference, organized by City Hub Events of the Alter Ego group in collaboration with Tsomokos Communications and will take place at the Ramada Plaza Thraki hotel, will highlight the key geostrategic and economic role of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and will explore the prospects of the future development, while special emphasis will also be placed on the efforts to rebuild Evros after the catastrophic fires of 2023. The City Hub events are a series of days/conferences focusing on issues that concern the Municipalities, Regions and Regional Development and are going to receive country throughout Greece.
Among the possibilities of the area is the port of Alexandroupolis, which is a safe transit hub for goods, as well as combined transport. At the same time, Alexandroupolis has also become a strategic hub, as its role is included in the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA), which Greece signed with the USA.
With regard to energy, something that concerned the public especially after the interruption of gas supplies from Russia, very important projects are underway in Alexandroupoli, one of them being the two planned floating LNG receiving stations, with a total capacity of 11 billion cubic meters, with aim to transport natural gas to Central and Eastern Europe.
The leading conference for Eastern Macedonia and Thrace is organized for the second consecutive year in Alexandroupolis, by the City Hub of the Alter Ego group in collaboration with Tsomokos Communications, at the Ramada Plaza Thraki hotel.
