The new coach Pep Guardiola changed Manchester City in the summer according to his ideas. Throughout the summer there were also rumors of a move from Neymar and a reunion between Peps and Lionel Messi at the Skyblues. Apparently there was more to it than that.
As the Sun reports, City is said to have exchanged three times with the advisors of the superstars of FC Barcelona. Both Neymar and Messi should be convinced of a move to Etihad. When it became clear after the third meeting that the duo would stay with the Catalans, Guardiola also gave up advertising.
Ex-Barcelona President Joan Laporte had already confirmed in the summer that the Skyblues had inquired about Messi.
Guardiola has not yet given up the hunt for Messi completely. Since the Argentine has not yet signed a new contract in Barcelona, the upcoming summer transfer period would currently be the last chance to get a huge transfer. The Catalans will certainly not let Messi, whose contract expires in 2018, go for nothing.
At Neymar, the situation is different. The Brazilian signed a new five-year deal just a few weeks ago.
