Manchester City narrowly extended the unprecedented series of victories on Tuesday. The team won the Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final stages 3-1, taking their 21st straight win in all competitions.
City took a 1-0 lead in the fifteenth minute by an unfortunate own goal from Leon Dendoncker and just before half-time saw Aymeric Laporte’s 2-0 be rejected due to offside.
Even after the break, City dominated, but Wolverhampton brought the score from nowhere to 1-1 by a goal from Conor Coady with the first touch of the ball in the enemy penalty area and the first shot on goal.
For the first time since December 15 (1-1 against West Bromwich Albion), City seemed to be losing points again, but it still ended in the last ten minutes by goals from Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and again Jesus.
City is rapidly heading for the league title. Manager Pep Guardiola’s team leads with no less than fifteen points ahead of the closest pursuer Manchester United, who has played a game less.

Dortmund too strong for Mönchengladbach
Borussia Dortmund qualified for the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday. The team was 0-1 too strong in the quarterfinals for Borussia Mönchengladbach, the club of the future Dortmund coach Marco Rose.
Jadon Sancho scored the only goal in the 66th minute. Just before that, Erling Haaland’s 0-1 was canceled due to offside. Dortmund ended the game with ten men due to a late red card (twice yellow) for Mahmoud Dahoud.
On Tuesday, Jahn Regensburg-Werder Bremen was also scheduled, but that game was canceled due to multiple corona infections at Jahn Regensburg. A new play date has not yet been announced.
The other two quarter-finals are Wednesday Rot-Weiss Essen-Holstein Kiel and RB Leipzig-VfL Wolfsburg. Holstein Kiel caused a gigantic stunt in the previous round by eliminating defending champion Bayern Munich.
