City parliament Wil clears the way for stadium lighting – TOP ONLINE

The lighting in FC Wil’s Bergholz stadium is not bright enough for the Swiss Football League. The Wil city parliament is now making it possible to upgrade the system. According to a statement from the city, a majority voted in favor of a loan of CHF 720,000. With the system, the stadium should be adequately illuminated, while at the same time the light emissions for the residents should be reduced.

The president of the pre-advisory building and traffic commission, Marc Flückiger, has to admit that the limit values for light emissions cannot be fully complied with. But it is the best possible solution to meet the requirements of the football league.

Some city parliamentarians also unsuccessfully defended themselves against the loan, arguing that the city repeatedly lets itself be lathered by FC Wil 1900 AG.

The upgrade of the lighting in the Bergholz stadium was blocked for a long time by a construction appeal. After all, the city had to work out a completely new project around two years ago.

In an interview with TELE TOP, Mayor Hans Mäder and the manager of FC Wil, Benjamin Fust, explain why the new lights are needed. Urs Etter, FDP parliamentarian and resident of the Bergholz district, says why he is against it.
