The City of Paterson, in New Jersey, will open a lottery starting today for families in the area to register and be chosen to receive $400 for 12 months.
Through the relaunch of the Paterson Guaranteed Income Program, which offers financial support.
This program is designed to help low-income individuals and families.
Those interested must register online between October 20 and 30.
From among the individuals or families who enroll, the program partner, the Center for Guaranteed Income at the University of Pennsylvania, will select 200 participants through a lottery system.
Those 200 winners will be notified by phone and will receive the monthly amount for one year.
The lottery will be held in early November.
The registration system will be activated during the course of this October 20.
Residents who do not have access to a computer at home can use computers at all three Paterson Public Library branches.
