The city of Ostend will deploy Covid coaches to support and inform people in quarantine. The city reports this on Friday. The Covid coaches are employees of the city who make home visits to people who could use a little extra explanation or help. In this way, the city wants to keep the number of infections in Ostend under control.

During such a home visit, the coach takes the time to clearly explain what measures such as home insulation exactly entail. The Covid coach also listens to the quarantined quarantine’s questions and concerns. Furthermore, the coach, together with the person and his or her housemates, looks for ways to get through the coming period. “Home insulation is after all a challenge on both a practical and a psychological level,” says Alderman of Welfare Natacha Waldmann.
Where possible, the city also offers additional support, such as home delivery of meals. With the deployment of Covid coaches, the city wants to support people to properly understand and follow up on measures such as home insulation. For example, the city wants to cooperate in further controlling the number of infections in Ostend. The coaches are also used to promote contact investigation. The intention is for the coaches to come into contact with positively tested residents as soon as possible so that cooperation with the Flemish contact researchers can also be prepared.
