In Offenbach, the millers’ mediators move out in the city area every day. They come across litter, discarded food or industrial waste that has not been properly disposed of. Recently, Louis Mambeck, trainee administrative manager of the city of Offenbach, accompanied the team and experienced the work on site. “It was a very interesting experience for me to be able to accompany the team of mill mediators. I learned a lot from it. Especially the search for clues to the person who caused it was an experience,” said Louis Mambeck. The employees followed a tip by e-mail that day. They then went out and examined the indicated heap of rubbish – with rubber gloves, because the miller’s investigators sometimes have to really dig in the rubbish. Eventually they found a letter with a useful clue. Now it can be determined where the garbage comes from and further investigative work can begin.

The public order office of the city of Offenbach is the central point of contact for citizens with complaints about cleanliness in Offenbach. Reports on illegal waste in public areas, incorrectly filled or provided waste containers, cleanliness of the used glass and used clothing container locations or even pest populations on public and private areas come together here.

All notices are created as an individual case

Department 3 of the public order office deals with the investigation of information from citizens and regularly looks for illegal waste in the city area. All notices are created as an individual case. The employees examine each case. For this it is important to indicate the exact location. The investigators document and photograph all traces and try to find the culprit. If he is identified, he can comment on it in a hearing after a written message. If it is established during the course of the investigation and the hearing that the person responsible has dumped the garbage illegally, fine proceedings will be initiated and a fine will be imposed. In any case, the public order office immediately commissions the ESO city service to remove the waste.

The public order office also becomes active when vermin appear on a property. This applies to both private and public areas. If a report of a pest infestation has been received, the employees on site look for evidence of the occurrence of pests. These can be, for example, rat droppings, rat holes, live/dead rats, bait and traps or leftover food. A report is drawn up on the situation on site, which, after subsequent examination, contributes to the decision as to whether pest control measures need to be carried out. If it is private property, the owner will be asked to take action. The city service is informed on public areas.
