At the Schillerwiese playground, the tower with the small slide has been removed for safety reasons. A replacement is not planned for the time being, because the city of Göttingen is planning a complete renovation of the playground in 2023.

The heavily frequented playground on the Schillerwiese fits in perfectly with the landscape park thanks to the organic shapes and natural materials. After around 19 years, the wood of the playground equipment is suffering from material fatigue. The city regularly checks the playground equipment for stability and rotten spots as part of the playground inspection.
In the summer of this year, the “turntable” play equipment had to be dismantled. During the last checks, considerable rotten spots were found on a post on the small slide tower, which ruled out further use. However, the large equipment on the Schillerwiese playground is currently in a roadworthy condition. Here, too, there is still a close-knit control.
