The Administrative Council unveils its concept for the renovation and extension of the institution on rue Charles-Galland. The cost will exceed 200 million francs.

Build underneath so as not to touch the historic Camoletti building. Six years after the refusal of Jean Nouvel’s project, the Administrative Council unveils its ambitions to renovate and enlarge the Museum of Art and History (MAH). Neither elevation, nor “stuffing the courtyard”, but an almost invisible extension because it is partly underground, mainly under the Observatory hill. At this stage, the cost of this pharaonic project is estimated at 200 million francs – with a significant margin of uncertainty of 25%.
