On March 3rd, four proposals will be presented to the citizens of the city of Bern who are entitled to vote.
The people of Bern decide on one-off expenses totaling 179 million francs and annual expenses of 2.1 million francs.
Loans for the renovation of the Ka-We-DE, the redesign of the public transport stops, a new depot on the Neuhuus site and the acquisition of a property will be voted on, as the Bern local council announced on Thursday.
The city of Bern would like to spend 59.4 million francs on the overall renovation of the Ka-We-De. The goal is to start construction work in the third quarter of 2024 and to complete it in autumn 2026.
Credit for accessibility
In order to make 94 public transport stops in the city of Bern barrier-free, the local council is applying to the electorate for a loan of 67.5 million francs.
Currently, 89 of the total 406 bus and tram stops meet the requirements of the Federal Equal Opportunity for Persons with Disabilities Act.
The local council is planning to invest 18.2 million francs to create a new workshop on the Neuhuus area in Bethlehem.
In addition, voters should approve annual expenditure of 2.1 million francs for rent and additional costs.
In the fourth proposal, the voters decide on the purchase of properties from the Swiss National Science Foundation in Länggasse. 33.9 million francs are to be spent on six properties.
