Our city’s nurses may go on strike soon.
Members of the New York State Nurses Association have already approved the work stoppage.
The union says around 14,000 of them have voted to authorize the strike if an agreement is not reached with their private hospitals when their contracts expire on December 31.
The nurses demonstrated for what they call a grueling shortage of staff and demand better wages and benefits.
A strike could seriously affect several private hospitals in the city, including BronxCare, Mount Sinai and New York-Presbyterian.
