City Man Arrested in Connection with Homicide in Hartford
Hartford, CT – Hartford police have arrested a city man in connection with a homicide that occurred over the weekend. The incident was one of three fatal shootings that took place in the city, according to authorities.
The Hartford Police Department received a ShotSpotter notification in the 600 block of Wethersfield Avenue at approximately 12:26 a.m. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered 24-year-old Jordan Phipps suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Sadly, Phipps, a resident of Bloomfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, police developed suspect information and obtained an arrest warrant approved by a Superior Court judge. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Chan Williams-Bey, was located at a residence on Pratt Street. Williams-Bey was taken into custody without incident by members of the Hartford Police Violent Crimes Unit and Fugitive Task Force.
Williams-Bey, a resident of Pratt Street in Hartford, is facing charges of murder, first-degree assault, and criminal possession of a firearm. He is currently being held on $5 million bail.
During the investigation into the homicide, another victim arrived at Hartford Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds that were determined to be non-life-threatening. The victim is expected to survive.
Approximately an hour later, police responded to another ShotSpotter notification at 1:52 a.m. Two men were found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, one of the men was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he was also pronounced dead. The victims have been identified as 23-year-old William Tisdol and 27-year-old Hakeem Dickson, both residents of Hartford.
