La Poste is leaving its “unsuitable” and “obsolete” premises on rue Maréchal-Joffre in Thionville to move to rue de Paris with a “new generation” office resolutely “turned towards the future”. This Tuesday 3 November (2 p.m.), La Poste is opening its new space with a surface area of 600 m² 200 of which are devoted to welcoming the public, ie 600 to 650 people per day on average.

More functional
No more stairs, no more long corridors or mazes, no more counters from another time. Since Tuesday, the new Post has changed century by settling in a place “adapted”, “well placed” and “easy to access” with a situation on one level and the parking lot of the Republic right next door. The interior layout has been completely redesigned to break the endless queues at the counters with a mobile reception intended to guide customers as soon as they enter the post office.
Postal workers and customers now work together in the same space.

Resolutely digital
We no longer speak of counters or counters, but of islets and account managers. “The office was designed to be as digital as possible”, points out Fabienne Belvo Noël, director of the La Poste sector in Thionville. A new generation of multipurpose machines has appeared and can either send mail or perform banking transactions. A digitization which does not alter the advice since according to the director, “no concession has been made with the maintenance of four to six account managers in branch”.
The bank advisers have offices and a dedicated entrance to receive their clients by appointment.

Priority to the city center
“The idea was also to participate in the revitalization of the city center,” continues Fabienne Belvo Noël. By choosing to set up in the hyper center, La Poste worked in collaboration with the City of Thionville, which also helped out by financing the storage area (15,000 euros).

Home maintained
The rule dictated by the reconfinement is clear: the reception of all public services is maintained. No reduction in hours or staff at La Poste.
