Five successful female entrepreneurs from the Evros region closed the second day of the East Macedonia & Thrace Forum II organized in Alexandroupoli by City Hub Events of the Alter Ego Media group in collaboration with Tsomokos Communications.

The discussion was moderated by Felina Kazakou, all five businessmen presented their own experiences, concerns and anxieties as well as a series of proposals to strengthen local entrepreneurship so that the region, despite the difficulties, manages to keep businesses alive and keep people in this uncritical place of its our country.

He called on the state to offer incentives to the area’s entrepreneurs.

THE Chrysa Argyrakakis, which operates in the field of hospitality and tourism, emphasized that “all our projects prioritize the need for creation” and that it promotes authentic Greek hospitality, the customs and traditions of Thrace. In its boutique hotel, it operates a permanent gallery, provides shelter to local producers, while local products are used in the menu of its hotels. He has also established an Ethical Reward Mark for products and services with the ultimate goal of strengthening the thinking of the world and those who do business for a sustainable development and for prioritizing ethical values ​​that should be above profit, as he characteristically said.

THE Kula Legetsi a member of the local Chamber and an entrepreneur in the service sector referred to the register of women’s businesses of the Evros Chamber with the aim of informing with programs run by women entrepreneurs while he emphasized the fact that as an organization they try to pressure the central state so that subsidies are given more quickly and to look for new programs to support businesses in the region.

THE Kiki Hadjisavva, winery owner and vineyard grower, referred to how difficult it is for a woman to work in the countryside. “We are facing many problems”, he said, such as the labor shortage.

“In Evros we feel neglected by the central state, we don’t see the infrastructures that have been announced from time to time”, emphasized Ms. Hatjisavva, while she also referred to the situation with the trains saying that “the railway is absent from the city”, while she appealed to the announcements made for infrastructure projects to come true soon. He also asked for support for small and medium-sized businesses, as many people from the region have migrated abroad.

Referring to the great fire that burned Evros last year, completely destroying its vineyards, she emphasized that the victims have not yet received any compensation, while she asked for tax incentives and some subsidies for those affected by the fire to make a new start.

H Dimitra Detsaridou, which is active in the agricultural economy and the production of animal feed, referred to how difficult it is to “hold on to business despite the promises that are made from time to time”. He emphasized that the cost of transporting the products is high and that the railway is “useless!”.

He pointed out that they often find the doors closed by the relevant agencies, and warned that many small and medium-sized enterprises cannot move forward without the support of each government. “We need support, Evros is emptying from people who come down to Alexandroupoli”, he noted to add that it is important “to strengthen the existing businesses”.
