6. Corona and 1300 people
This episode was an incident that made me extremely angry.
I was a person who had endured well for a whopping three months, overcoming various difficulties.
Of course, there were minor episodes, but the impact was not strong and it was just a strange, but natural abuse of power.
As time passed, I may have become accustomed to such abuse.
When I entered the main office, I took the bankbook given by the team leader without saying a word, as if it was a given.
Three months passed by in April, when the coronavirus was rampant, and I tried to be as careful as possible.
Of course I got the vaccine, but despite that, I ended up catching coronavirus.
At that time, civil servants were given 5 days of leave if they caught the coronavirus, and so did I.
It was the second day since I got sick with coronavirus. When I was suffering from coronavirus symptoms, I got a call from my team leader.
I thought it was a call asking if I was okay.
I answered the phone with my voice completely hoarse, and what the team leader said was absolutely absurd.
Team Leader: Lee Joo-im!! My mother-in-law has just passed away. I need to contact her urgently. I’ll send you a list. Please find the phone numbers of government officials and write them down. If you connect to the internal network GVPN, you can search, right?
If you don’t have it, please write it down!
931: Team leader, I’m not feeling well.
Team Leader: I know, I know, but I’m at home. I’m in a hurry, so help me just this once. I’ll send you an email now. (pop)
I’m sick, but I thought I was joking. It was already painful, but it seemed to be getting more painful.
It was the second day of Corona when my symptoms were at their worst, and I was lying in bed suffering from fever and body aches after taking medicine.
I was offended by his selfishness, but since I was an inspector and not a sergeant, I had no one to ask for.
When I entered the email, there was an Excel file there.
The Excel file was a list of congratulatory and condolence expenses given and received by the team leader, and the number of people listed was about 1,300.
A quick glance shows that there are over 200 people who do not have numbers, and many of those who do have administrative numbers are listed.
To send a congratulatory or condolence message via text message intended by the team leader, enter the administrative system through GVPN.
I had to search for my cell phone number and write it down.
I searched for it for about an hour and put it in.
Is it because you are angry and has a fever, or is it a symptom of coronavirus?
I couldn’t see the monitor screen properly so I just lay down on the bed.
The team leader might get angry later, but I thought I had to live.
About 3 hours later, I received a call from the team leader.
I was more resolute than ever before and said I couldn’t do it because I was in pain.
Then he gave up very easily and said, “Oh really…? There’s nothing we can do about it.”
Rather, I felt like a fool for worrying about what to do even though I was sick until I got the call.
He leaned on the hierarchy and made requests that were difficult to refuse,
It seemed like they were thinking too simply, “If it doesn’t work, don’t do it.”
Because we’re on the same team. Because teamwork is important. Even if I lost a little bit, I could understand it if the team could go in a good direction.
What did a team mean to the team leader?
I’m still curious.
