On Monday, October 28, the starting signal was given for the establishment of workplaces in the city forum, “a place for the future” of the city administration. The first desks of around 1,000 mostly flexible workstations are currently being delivered and assembled. Employees can reserve desks digitally; only in special cases is a permanent workplace. In total, there are 150 to 220 workstations on each office floor – from the second to the sixth floor.
Personnel and Digital Mayor Jan Pratzka: “At the same time, we are introducing electronic file management. This means that work in the village forum is mostly digital and paperless.
The next few weeks will see the installation of the study support arms, IT workstation equipment, workstation lighting, sound boards and the number of workstations. The work islands for exchange in small groups as well as islands of green plants are then applied. With the delivery of the swivel office chairs in the middle of February 2025, the furniture of the workplaces of the city forum will be ready.
The city forum plays a central role in the concept of the future state capital Dresden. According to the city hall, office space and thus operating and rental costs can be saved by consolidating areas. There will be two public floors with a counseling center in the middle. Due to the location in the city centre, the services of the specialized offices will be available in one place in the future. The building is being built under the silver standard of the “Sustainable Building for Federal Buildings” rating system and as a pilot project using a Building Information Modeling (BIM) design tool. On the roof of the city forum, a photovoltaic system in combination with a green roof also helps to improve CO2– Balance sheet.
However, the construction attracted criticism from the very beginning, both architecturally and financially, especially now, after the collapse of the C train of the Carola Bridge and completely open funding for a new bridge.
