City expects more money for refugees

The administration’s report states, among other things, that the FlüAG, the Refugee Reception Act, is to be changed in North Rhine-Westphalia. This would mean that the city would receive a higher monthly flat rate for each refugee it takes in – namely 1,033 euros/month instead of the current 875 euros/month. And this would be retroactive to January 1 of the year.

On the one hand, this is good news, says the administrative report. On the other hand, it is still not enough to cover the actual costs. In fact, in 2017 – before the general increase in rent, construction, energy and services costs – these were already at 1,033 euros per month.

As for the abbreviation ABH Coesfeld: This is the Coesfeld immigration office. It registers refugees living in Dülmen. In addition, the city of Dülmen also takes in refugees who are assigned to it by the Arnsberg district government (BR). Since 2022, the ABH Coesfeld has registered 332 people from Ukraine living in Dülmen. In the same period, 611 refugees from Ukraine were assigned to Dülmen by the BR. 323 people are known to have moved away from Ukraine. According to current knowledge, 620 people from Ukraine were living in Dülmen as of August 15, 2024.

And the ZUE? That is a central accommodation facility for the state. According to the city of Dülmen, it could be created at Gausepatt. It has offered the area to the Münster district government for this purpose (DZ reported). There is no information in the written report for the Social Committee on the current state of affairs. Instead, the current developments will be reported at the meeting on Tuesday.
