The city beefs up security in response to the conflict in the Middle East and possible protests in the city on Friday.
Mayor Adams met with Jewish leaders Thursday to discuss public safety.
“In the wake of the barbaric attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel and the messages of hate and violence around the world, I want all New Yorkers, especially our Jewish community, to know:
“There are currently no credible or specific threats against our city,” the mayor said in a message on social media.

According to police sources, all agents must appear in uniform to reinforce security.
Officers will not be granted excuses or shift changes and the order will remain in effect until further notice.
The NYPD also posted a message on social media in which it also noted that there were no credible or specific threats against the city.

Adams and Governor Hochul assured New Yorkers that there is nothing to worry about.
All in all, the mayor said that although there are no credible or specific threats, we must remain alert.
For his part, Hochul assured that there is no reason to feel afraid. He said that citizens should not change their routines as this would mean a triumph for terrorists.
This, after former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal called for global demonstrations today in support of the Palestinians.
The Police Department is also taking additional safety precautions at police stations across the city.
