The late Baroque railway station in the former residential town of Coburg is the station of the year 2022. The prize is awarded annually by the
Pro-Rail Alliance is selected by a jury among travellers’ suggestions. The criteria include the information and services offered, the quality of the stay and the connection to public transport.
In many other railway stations in this country, however, there is a clear need to catch up. This was underlined by the German Association of Cities in a document entitled “A new program for railway stations”. The proposals contained in it are important preconditions for a politically desired doubling of rail passengers. The document was created in collaboration with DB Station & Service AG, the German
Association of Towns and Municipalities and Federal Association of Local Rail Transport.
