For nine days, well-known artists took turns performing cabaret on the old Main Bridge on the stage. Even if inconsistent weather sometimes clouded the event a bit, those responsible drew a positive conclusion on Sunday afternoon. They indicated that there will probably be a cabaret on the old Main Bridge again in the coming year.
The cabaret was organized by Comödie Fürth, represented at the press conference by Martin Rassau. He was supported by the city of Marktheidenfeld and the Marktheidenfeld Citizens’ Culture Foundation as cooperation partners. According to Rassau, a total of almost 3,000 spectators came to the nine cabaret days, with which he was satisfied. “200 is the new 1500,” he said, looking at the manageable numbers of visitors in Corona times.
He named the evenings with Heissmann & Rassau and Sebastian Reich with the hippopotamus Amanda as the front runners; At these events, the almost 500 spectator seats were almost fully occupied.
Personal greeting from the mayor for every artist
According to Rassau, the participating artists were also very satisfied with the cabaret on the old Main Bridge. He liked the fact that the mayor, who was present at all the events, personally greeted the artists, said Rassau. He also praised the building yard of the town of Marktheidenfeld, which helped immediately if necessary, and the flower house Carl, which took over the flower arrangements on the stage.
Mayor Thomas Stamm spoke of a pleasant cooperation with Rassau and the Citizens’ Culture Foundation; The collaboration with technician Stefan Pflaum also went very well.
Inge Albert, who is responsible for the areas of city marketing, culture and tourism at the town of Marktheidenfeld, emphasized Stamm. Albert initiated the cabaret at the old Main Bridge, contacted the Comödie Fürth and intensively accompanied the project.
Visitors also came from other counties
Stamm praised the broadly diversified program, but also made it clear that he would have liked a few more viewers for one or the other artist. All in all, he heard “many positive voices” about the cabaret on the old Main Bridge.
Inge Albert looked back on an “experiment” that had been further developed after the idea in January with all the corona-related imponderables. On Sunday she was also beaming: It was great what had developed out of it.
Susanne Rinno and Wolfgang Hörnig from the Citizens’ Culture Foundation were also satisfied. The wide range on offer attracted a wide variety of people, also from outside the Main-Spessart district.
Clubs satisfied with the proceeds from hospitality
The Bürgererkulturstiftung had taken on the task of organizing the entertainment for the cabaret on the old Main Bridge. That means, they bought food and drinks and passed them on at cost price to the associations they worked with, who then took over the catering and were allowed to keep the difference to the retail price for themselves.
According to Hörnig, the ten clubs involved were also very satisfied; These were the choral society 06 Marktheidenfeld, the Catholic parish, the tennis club Marktheidenfeld, the choral society Glasofen, the gymnastics club Marktheidenfeld, the Alpfler Laabfrösch, the forest kindergarten and the Lorbser.
The Red Cross was on standby every evening; Fortunately, more than one wasp sting did not have to be treated.
Will there be another cabaret on the old Main Bridge in 2022? The city of Marktheidenfeld would look forward to further cooperation and a continuation of the cabaret on the old Main Bridge, said Mayor Stamm. You will first have to look closely at the numbers, said Rassau, but he is already assuming a continuation. In the future, however, umbrellas will no longer be allowed, but rain ponchos will be offered. The Citizens Culture Foundation will be there again, Rinno and Hörnig made clear.
