The expected has become a reality. In an official report, the French carmaker Citroën announced the definitive end of production of the Grand C4 SpaceTourer model. This is a double end. The company is saying goodbye to the MPV segment after almost 30 years.

According to Citroën, the reason is the great interest in the SUV segment, which, moreover, replaces the MPV globally. The last Spacetourer, which is produced at the Vigo plant in Spain, will leave the line in July. On the market, it is to be replaced mainly by the C5 Aircross SUV or the larger ë-Spacetourer passenger van, which, as the name suggests, is now only available as an electric car.

Together with the end of the Citroën model, he recalled the entire long era of production within the MPV segment. It is worth mentioning, for example, the pioneer of large-scale vehicles, the Evasion model, which has been produced since 1994. On the other hand, the C3 Picasso was the smallest MPV brand from 2008 to 2017.

Probably the biggest legend is Xsara Picasso. The model was produced from 1999 to 2012 and the French carmaker sold 1.76 million units. The current model was renamed the C4 Spacetourer in 2018 from the original typical designation C4 Picasso, which was also worn by its predecessor. In the last phase, only the seven-seater version of the Grand C4 Spacetourer remained in production.
