Citizenship, the law for healthcare for homeless people has been approved

ROMA – Says Anna Lisa Mandorino, general secretary of Active Citizenship : “We are particularly satisfied and proud of the definitive approval yesterday in the Senate of the law that guarantees basic healthcare for homeless people, starting its testing from January 2025 in metropolitan cities. First of all, we thank Marco Furfaro, the first signatory of the bill, and the street lawyer Antonio Mumolo, who has been fighting personally for years, with his organization, to restore dignity to around 100 thousand people”.

One million euros for the homeless. The provision allocates one million euros for each of the years 2025 and 2026, to finance an experimental program, to be launched in metropolitan cities starting next year, aimed at guaranteeing homeless people, and without registered residence, the registration in lists of patients from local health authorities, the choice of general practitioner or pediatrician of free choice, as well as access to services guaranteed by Lea, the Essential Levels of Assistance. Furthermore, starting from June 2026, the Government will present an annual report to the Chambers on the state of implementation of the law to illustrate: number of homeless people registered in the ASL lists; number and type of services provided: costs incurred; any critical issues.
