Citizenship referendum: the appeal of Ghali and Zerocalcare to collect signatures

Almost 300 thousand signatures. “The collection is traveling at an impressive speed thanks also to the mobilization of many personalities from the fields of culture, sport, entertainment, academia and journalism. This demonstrates two things: first, that there is an enormous will to change the law on unjust, cruel and uncivilized citizenship, that Italians are far ahead of others Meloni, Salvini, Vannacci and Tajani who instead would like tougher laws for those born, raised, educated and live permanently in Italy – says the secretary of +Europa, Riccardo Magion the referendum on citizenship presented last September 4 – Now we need a final sprint: there is a week left to dedicate to reaching 500 thousand signatures to go to the referendum next year in the spring”.

The platform is tilted

In just a few hours, however, the site (referendumcittadinanza.it) went haywire “due to too many accesses”, as explained by the promoting committee. In the early afternoon, in fact, it was impossible to complete the procedure for leaving one’s signature on the platform made available to the Ministry of Justice, which has been inaccessible for hours now. A warning explains that the problem is due to server problems. “We were traveling at a rate of around 10 thousand signatures per hour when the ministry’s public platform for collecting signatures went haywire due to too many signatures – explains Magi from +Europa – For around two hours thousands of people have been trying to sign for the unsuccessful citizenship referendum, receiving error messages from the platform. We immediately reported the episode to the competent offices and await a response shortly. However, it remains very serious that a government platform, designed for this objective, is unable to keep up the flow of signatures of these hours”.
