Citizenship Law: Proceedings will begin once vaccine distribution is complete – Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Citizenship Amendment Act will be implemented once the distribution of the Kovid vaccine is completed. Amit Shah made the remarks at a function in Thakurnagar, West Bengal.

“Once the vaccine distribution is complete and we are Kovid-free, the process of granting Indian citizenship to refugees covered by the Citizenship Amendment Act, including the Matua community in West Bengal, will begin,” Amit Shah said. The Citizenship Act is a law of Parliament. How can you prevent that? “And you don’t have the power to stop it,” he said.

Amit Shah told a rally in Cooch Behar that Mamata Banerjee would start calling Jai Shriram before the polls in Bengal. Amit Shah also asked if Jai Shriram should be heard in Pakistan if not in India.

Meanwhile, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responded to Amit Shah’s statement that the vaccination process has not even started in the state and the saffron party is waiting for the election to be completed.
