Citizenship, 637,487 signatures deposited in the Supreme Court for the referendum

The secretary of +Europa, Riccardo Magitogether with other members of the promoting committee of the referendum on citizenshiptook the collected signatures to the Supreme Court.

“We are depositing 637,487 signatures of citizens who signed the referendum on citizenship, 155 thousand collected in just 24 hours, over 9 thousand people who have expressed their willingness to become digital activists for this campaign, 25 nationally renowned artists who have used their voice to spread the message – explains Magi -. Times of total distrust for politics and distance from institutions are not just record numbers, they are the sign that people called to ‘become political’ are responding and mobilising”.

With respect to the controversy over the digital signature, Magi comments: “It is both serious and incredible: on 4 September when we filed the question here in the Court of Cassation everyone in the political world told us to leave it alone, that it was an impossible undertaking. Today they tell us that it is too easy! This Referendum is so scary because no one expected it and also because it is a clear response to the reactionary policies of Meloni government. Signing was also an act of opposition, an act of resistance.”
