Juarez City- With the intention of promoting altruistic blood donation, an event was held today at the facilities of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) of the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez (UACJ), where state authorities urged to internalize actions like this to save lives.
In the auditorium of the building located in the Pronaf Zone, the inflatable of a “drop” was placed in commemoration of World Blood Donor Day. From there, the hematologist René Amatón Tabares, coordinator of the Regional Bank, urged citizens to join in awareness and action to the gesture of kindness.
“We went through a crisis (due to the pandemic), it really was a crisis,” said the professional. He explained that in 2018, more than 10,000 units of blood were collected, for 2019 there were 9,000 and 2020 and 2021 he defined as “chaotic”, but in this 2022 it has begun to be regularized although greater participation is still needed.
He recalled that the facilities of the Blood Bank are located in the Todos Somos Mexicanos center, next to the Municipal Presidency, on Francisco Villa Avenue.
