Al-Marsad Newspaper: “Al-Ikhbariya” channel published a report in which it surveyed citizens’ opinions about the personal status system, which prohibits the documentation of marriage contracts under 18 years of age.
A citizen said that he supports not marrying a girl before the age of 18, pointing out that a girl before reaching this age is considered a child, who does not understand the meaning of marriage and marriage matters.
A citizen indicated that he also supports this decision and that the best age for marriage is 20 or 24, in order to be mature, and a citizen agreed with him, saying, “She must be mature in order to settle in her home.”
A 16-year-old girl explained that she refuses to marry before the age of 18, and that she can marry after the age of 20 or 30.
While a female citizen said that she had no objection to her daughter getting married when she was less than 18 years old, noting that she got married when she was 12 years old, and life matters were adornment.
And she continued: “Then the girl reaches the age of 20 and 25 years and says she does not want to get married.”
