Citizens who oppose the “privatization” of El Chamizal will hold a protest in the Parks and Gardens Directorate. They demand that a petition sheet be fulfilled, in which they denounce lack of attention to the park.
The lack of acquisition of spare parts for the wastewater plant has prevented supplying the park. This is one of the examples of negligence of the Municipalityactivists noted.
Daniel Delgadillo Diaz, member of the Front in Defense of El Chamizal, said that a political rally will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at 12:00 hours, in the offices of Parks and Gardens.
The social organization delivered the document to the municipal agency on May 19. They require adequate maintenance of plants and shrubs, which includes those transplanted from the front in the area known as Los Hoyos.
Meanwhile, the activist María Antonieta Ríos clarified that maintaining the place well implies irrigation, fertilization, attention to diseases and pruning of trees.
It also includes the constant reforestation of the 333 hectares that make up El Chamizal, together with the annex of the Bertha Chiu sports corridor, better known as Los Hoyos, he said.
The Municipality has the obligation to monitor the health status of the green infrastructure, which includes newly planted trees., he emphasized.
Park and Garden workers indicated that the treatment plant that provides water to El Chamizal was not working during 2019, due to the lack of a pumping device that has a cost of 30 thousand pesos.
The cost of the pumping equipment requires a total investment of 300 thousand pesos to solve the supply regularization. On the other hand, the service has been operating with intermittent failures for three years, they noted.
