Oct 24, 2024 | The Netherlands is taking part in the ESC – but without Joost Klein
The Netherlands are taking part in the ESC 2025, although things didn’t go well this year: candidate Joost Klein was actually the favorite in Malmö, but was disqualified in the semi-finals. The accusation: He is said to have threatened a camerawoman. Ultimately, there was no evidence of this, so the investigation was stopped.
That’s why Joost Klein was offered to take up a new position in Basel in 2025. Almost as a kind of compensation. However, there was a rejection from Klein. In his Instagram story, the 26-year-old explained that it just didn’t feel good. He is still very shaken from this year. “I need to give myself more time to heal.”
It is not yet clear who will run for the Netherlands instead.
Oct 21, 2024 | Security zone planned for artists in Basel
The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö was overshadowed by tensions, demonstrations and calls to boycott Israel.
At the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel 2025, artists will now have a place to retreat. For example, filming should not be allowed there.
ESC supervisory board chairman Bakel Walden told the Swiss newspaper “Sonntagsblick” that they expect fair, respectful treatment of each other and neutral, apolitical behavior during the three minutes on stage and around the shows. Outside, everyone can comment on anything.
In Malmö, the Israeli singer Eden Golan barely left her hotel room for security reasons and was also partially cut by artists.
Sep 2, 2024 | Will Celine Dion be a guest star at the Eurovision Song Contest?
Céline Dion and the ESC – it fits like a glove. Great ballads, a stunning voice and lots of glitter characterize both the 56-year-old and the music competition. No wonder that the producers of this year’s shows are flirting with the superstar:
Actually, the ESC wants to put talent in the foreground and not let them be overshadowed by world-famous stars. But of course it also has its appeal to have such a name on the show.
