“Citizens for the Municipality” registers with the OIC to participate in the local elections

Citizens for the municipality registers for the elections

At exactly 11:00 a.m., the “Citizens for the Municipality” coalition submitted its documents and registered to participate in the upcoming local elections on October 29.

“The name is not accidental. We want the residents of Burgas municipality to have the opportunity to make their own choice for the people who will stand behind their interests and those of society in the next Municipal Council of Burgas. The need for the real presence of persons with an active civic position, of representatives of non-governmental organizations that struggle with the difficult life situations of Burgas residents and of experts outside of politics, made us unite with professionals from different sectors.

We will take part in the upcoming elections with the clear message that Burgas municipality is the citizens and they have the power to change what they don’t like in the management of our city today,” said the leader of the “Citizens for the Municipality” coalition – Bencho Benchev.

During the submission of the documents to the Municipal Election Commission, he was accompanied by lawyer Dobromira Polimenova. She is one of the prominent representatives of the non-political formations in defense of parents and children.

“I firmly stand behind the coalition. It brings together individuals with experience in fighting to protect people and those who do their best to support them through their professional experience. Too often we see the inability of the rulers to deal with the real needs of the Bulgarian citizens. That’s about to change. I believe that people are increasingly aware of the need for citizen participation in government. And local government is the first step towards successful changes in municipalities and throughout the country,” said lawyer Polimenova.

In the coming days, the list of candidates for municipal councilors in the local parliament and the candidate for mayor, nominated by the “Citizens for the Municipality” coalition, which unites specialists and experts from every sector affecting society, will be presented.
