“Citizen shares harrowing experience during Sudan crisis with News 24”

Citizen Hammoud Safar Al-Sharif revealed the details of what happened to him and his six friends in Sudan, after the clashes that took place there.

Al-Sharif explained toNews 24He and his friends were on a “sniping” road trip to Sudan 7 days before the start of the crisis, and on the day the fighting broke out, they were on their way back to the hotel in Khartoum as there was gunfire everywhere.

He added that this made them rush to return to the hotel and contact the Saudi embassy, which in turn asked them to stay in the hotel until they were evacuated to another hotel.

He added that due to the intensification of the war in Sudan, and the hotel’s location in the city center, several bullets hit the windows of the hotel in which they were staying, and that there was even a shot that hit one of the hotel employees and led to his death.

And he indicated that fear was their feeling in the shadow of that war, where the sound of bullets is heard everywhere, except that their trust is in God; And then their communication with the embassy made them feel reassured.

Al-Sharif confirmed that the embassy transferred them to another hotel with other citizens who stayed there before they were transferred to Port Sudan by land for a distance of 1,000 km, where they walked the road for 12 hours with different nationalities, Kuwaitis and Qataris, where they were booked in a hotel in Port Sudan for 6 hours; And then he transported them, along with other nationalities, via Saudi navy ships to the Kingdom, expressing his thanks and appreciation for what his country had done since the beginning of the crisis.
