Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) stated that it will soon provide further information regarding the news that PT Citigroup Sekuritas Indonesia (PT CSI), a business entity of Citi, will be leaving the Indonesian capital market in the near future.
This statement is in response to the news that this CG coded broker will cease to provide its services starting this Friday, October 15, 2021.
“Later, we will report back about Citibank,” said Laksono Widodo, Director of Trading and Member Arrangement on the IDX, Monday night (11/10/2021).
Previously, in an announcement made by this security that was spread across WhatsApp groups of capital market players, analysts and traders, it was stated that this company would no longer provide domestic sales services in Indonesia.
“Please note that starting October 18, 2021, Citigroup Sekuritas Indonesia will no longer provide domestic sales and execution services in Indonesia,” reads the announcement, quoted Monday.
“Citigroup Sekuritas Indonesia Equity thanks clients for their business over the last 10 years. Last trade for Citigroup was October 15, 2021.”
In fact, to CNBC Indonesia via e-mail on September 29, the management of Citi Indonesia has ensured that its subsidiary, which is engaged in the securities business, Citigroup Sekuritas Indonesia, will not leave Indonesia.
Country Head of Corporate Affairs Citibank NA, Indonesia, Puni A. Anjungsari said that CSI will continue to serve its institutional customers.
“Citigroup Sekuritas Indonesia will not leave Indonesia, and is committed to continuing to serve its institutional clients,” said Puni, in an official statement sent via email to CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (29/9/2021).
Currently, Citi Indonesia, he said, has an integrated global markets platform and offers global solutions covering tariffs, currencies, credit, equity, consulting, and origination and distribution of capital markets.
In addition, Citi Indonesia continues to communicate with relevant financial regulators and authorities to discuss and support market deepening efforts in order to promote and develop the Indonesian financial market.
Citi Indonesia has so far managed to raise more than IDR 285 trillion or around US$ 20 billion by 2021 from institutional customers in Indonesia.
