“Citi Bike Celebrates 10 Years of Transformational Bike-Sharing in NYC”

It is often said that “time flies”… and Citi Bike is no exception as it celebrates its tenth anniversary tomorrow.

The bike-sharing program met with a lot of criticism when it launched in 2013.

Still, it quickly became very popular and now has nearly 2,000 stations after starting with about 300.

There are currently about 30,000 bikes in use, according to Citi Bike.

Just a couple of days ago, Citi Bike posted a message on social media announcing the opening of new stations in two areas of Brooklyn.

“Great news for Williamsburg and Greenpoint! ๐ŸŽ‰

“We’ve added over 20 new Citi Bike stations to the area. Check out one of the newest at Roebling St. & S 4th St! ๐Ÿ‘€

“Find all the stations on our map and let us know if you’ve seen any: “, the message reads.

The Atlas Bike Share firm was the first owner of Citi Bike, but in 2018 it passed into the hands of the Lyft company.

The first death of a cyclist in this program occurred in the fourth year of its existence.

Citi Bike has changed the way people get around the city, expanding even as the cost nearly doubled.
