Cisco Densifies Processing Performance and Network Capabilities

In order to respond to the challenges of digital transformation brought about by the transformation of the workspace and the conditions of access to the company’s resources, Cisco made a salvo of announcements and updates of its solutions during its Live event. 2021.

Scale up computing, network and security capabilities. This is the mantra of Cisco which took advantage of its Live 2021 event to make a rain of announcements in the matter. “The challenge is to add innovation capabilities from a security perspective, compute and also automation at scale,” said Adam MacHale, vice president of business. Cisco provider for the EMEAR branch during a press point this afternoon.

Among the many announcements, we note in particular the ramp-up of the processing capacities of its latest Silicon One circuit, now capable of processing up to 1.2 tbit of data with a bandwidth of 25.6 Tb / s, the everything for energy consumption revised downwards by 45% compared to the first generation dating back to the end of 2019. On the network side, performance is also up a notch, with the Optics 100 GbE ZR and 400 GbE ZR open ZR + solutions . “This explosion of performance on network elements makes it possible to respond to the greater complexity of a deployment at scale, with greater efficiency in terms of latency while reducing costs,” continues Adam MacHale.

Other concerns of the moment are also present for Cisco: automation and performance execution of tasks, and this as well in a multicloud environment up to the edge. In order to accelerate what the OEM calls “the application experience”, the goal is to offer a unique way to improve visibility in complex environments. And this as well through internet flows, as the cloud as applications running on the internal servers of the company. To achieve this goal, Cisco offers two latest offers: Catalyst 9000 to provide visibility into data flows, but also appdynamics dash studio. “With this we proactively and more quickly cover the observability and monitoring needs of users’ connections,” said Gordon Thomson, vice president of technology acceleration at Cisco.

A central pillar of the company’s strategy, security logically benefits from several building blocks aimed at extending its capabilities in terms of Sase architecture. To respond to this challenge, the company promises to tackle the proliferation of passwords, the management of which tends to become uncontrollable, but also to the means of orchestrating security alerts. According to figures cited during the press briefing, 79% of CISOs indicate that the management of their alerts has become complicated. To reduce it, Cisco has worked on a better understanding of user behavior “to better see the threat coming”. Logically, the Secure X platform takes it up a notch: already used by 5,000 customers, this offer launched last summer offers automated workflows, cyber investigation as well as advanced phishing behavioral analysis. With the result, according to the supplier, a net gain of 95% in terms of speed of execution, and 85% of the resolution of cyber incidents.
