After a little more than a month, Cirque du Soleil will visit Arena Riga with its latest show “OVO”.
Paula Marija Janszewicz, who watched this show at the Ergo Arena in Gdańsk, shares her impressions:
“Before the show, the arena hummed with rapturous anticipation. And the huge, inflated egg in the middle of the stage only added to the excitement. The name of the show “OVO” means “egg” in Portuguese, and they flashed in every corner. Ladybug, who is a big flirt in the show, was reminiscent of Teletubbies with her intonation change and incomprehensible language. The subtle language of insects was made understandable to everyone by the expressive intonation changes, the game of body language and the jokes expressed through it. For a moment, it seemed that there were real swarms of insects on the stage, thanks to the excellent, finely designed costumes and the incredibly talented and almost superhuman body plasticity of the performers themselves. It really was a circus in the most literal sense, and I’m glad that the creators of the show have not alienated themselves from the essence of the circus.”
Paula Marija Janševica says that the show featured spectacular tricks, a romantic flight of moths, jugglers and insect complex clowns, who evoked the widest range of emotional experiences in the audience.
“I’m glad that at this time when performances and bright scenography are becoming more and more popular, Cirque du Soleil has managed to stick to its roots and not just make it a show full of gorgeous special effects, but continue the circus art and traditions that have been created for hundreds of years. And this circus has never included animals in its performances and does not plan to do so either, which is a great bonus,” adds Paula Marija Janševica.
Also, the performances of this circus never leave the head of parents organization “Mammamuntetiem.lv” and mother of three children Inga Akmentiņu-Smildziņu indifferent. “Cirque du Soleil shows are the ones that usually make my hands hurt from rapturous clapping,” Inga Akmentiņa-Smildziņa says with a smile. She highly appreciates these magnificent shows: “Usually they have luxurious scenography and professional performance, as well as the new show “OVO ” is on the level. If you haven’t experienced the talents of Cirque du Soleil yet, I’d say it will be a wonderful experience for the whole family and definitely worth going to one of the shows.”
